Questions and answers
Short answers about Tripod VPN: what it costs, how it works and what we record.
Access
Will it work on my network?
In most cases, yes. If you are unable to connect, we return your money.
Tripod VPN is designed to keep your connection going when a network starts interfering with VPNs. No service can promise to reach every destination from every network, so every plan comes with a money-back rule.
What happens when a protocol gets blocked?
Your traffic can travel over ordinary HTTP instead, with no new settings on your device.
VPN traffic looks like a normal website visit.
We can change servers without you having to reconfigure your devices. The app gets all settings from your subscription link.
Does it work on routers, servers, TVs or game consoles?
Yes, through a router or server running OpenWrt, Linux or FreeBSD: it runs a supported client, and the devices behind it use the connection. Any device running Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD, Android, or iOS that can install a client works on its own, Android TVs included. Other TVs and game consoles connect through such a router.
Setup
What do I get after paying?
A subscription link and its QR code, shown in the portal. Add the link to your client app or scan the code, and connect. The client app gets every setting from the link, so there is nothing to configure by hand.
Which app do I use?
Any standard client app; the Get connected page walks you through setting up each one.
- Clash Verge Rev: Windows, macOS, Linux
- Mihomo: Linux, FreeBSD
- FlClash: Android
- Clash Mi: iOS
Client apps come from independent developers. We don't supply or support them, and we aren't responsible for them.
What is a subscription link?
This link gives you personal access to the VPN.
Keep the link private.
If anyone else gets it, contact support@tripod.sh.
How many devices can I use?
5 devices on every plan, all connected at the same time.
Privacy and use
What do you record?
No browsing history: we don't keep a history of the sites you reach through Tripod VPN.
We keep aggregate traffic amounts, with no source or destination addresses and no per-connection history, and short-lived diagnostics on connections our servers refuse, kept so the service keeps running.
Your information is not for sale. We don't use it for advertising or advertising profiles. We don't train AI models on it, and we don't let anyone else do so.
Your account, payment and sign-in records are described in the Privacy Policy.
Can I use torrents?
Torrents never go through the VPN, and peer-to-peer traffic that reaches our servers is dropped on every plan. Known torrent clients are routed around the tunnel and connect directly, as they would without a VPN. The block is a plan restriction under section 6 of the Terms of Service.
Traffic is unlimited, subject to fair use.
Is it legal to use?
That depends on where you are: you are responsible for whether your use of Tripod VPN is lawful there.
The Terms of Service ask you to follow the laws that apply to your use where you use the service.
Billing
How much does it cost?
It depends on the plan, and longer plans are cheaper: $9.99 for a month, $19.99 for 3 months ($6.66 per month), or $59.99 for a year ($5.00 per month). Every plan covers up to 5 devices. Price in USD. Taxes included. Nothing is added at checkout.
How do I cancel, and how do refunds work?
Email support@tripod.sh to cancel; your access continues until the end of the current paid period.
Cancellation received before the next renewal stops that renewal and any further charge. We confirm the end date in writing.
If you are unable to connect, we'll return your money. Within 14 days of payment, card payments only. See the money-back conditions.
